A 1/2″ MS (Mild Steel) U-type syphon is a protective pipe fitting, commonly with 1/2″ BSPT or NPT threads, designed to protect pressure gauges from high-temperature steam, hot vapors, and pressure surges. The U-shape forms a condensate barrier, cooling the medium before it reaches the instrument, and is ideal for horizontal installations.

Syphon MS U 1/2inch

 

A Syphon MS U 1/2″ is a U‑type mild steel syphon used as an accessory for pressure gauges. Its primary purpose is to protect the pressure gauge from high-temperature media such as steam.

What it does:

  • It allows condensate to form and collect inside the U‑shaped bend.
  • This prevents hot steam or vapors from coming into direct contact with the pressure gauge, reducing the temperature before it reaches the instrument.
  • Also helps reduce the effect of pressure surges.
